Mission Statement

Integrating science and the sacred

1. Contribute to a healthy psychedelic and mental health ecology in Australia and Internationally:

  • Providing high-quality clinical, therapeutic, education and training services grounded in evidence base whilst valuing wisdom traditions.
  • Strive to maintain respect, transparency and integrity with individuals and organisations.
  • Engaging in research projects and providing support to partnering organisations via research and direct practice student placements.

2. Reduce the impacts of mental health challenges, trauma and sexual abuse

  • By offering specialised tailored services SOL is committed to creating safe spaces for those who have suffered and work through their trauma in empowering and creative ways.
  • Helping clients become aware of their thoughts and feelings is a primary focus when working with SOL. The healing journey begins by taking responsibility for our own self-care, relationship to self and our interactions in the world.

3. Provide specialist clinical and education programs

  • Raising awareness of the eclectic range of therapies and tools in both clinicians and clients to broaden the potential scope of healing.
  • Leading the way in the development of ethical and integral education programs to ensure that high standards are set for training and administering emerging treatments like psychedelic therapy.
  • Providing students with the space to learn practical skills and contributing to the next generation of practitioners.

4. Advocacy for Psychedelic Therapy

  • Lending a credible voice to the conversation of psychedelic therapy by promoting research-based efficacious research.
  • Maintaining a balanced viewpoint in providing information about the potential benefits and risks of psychedelic therapy.
  • Supporting organisations conducting psychedelic research by helping to disseminate knowledge of psychedelic therapy to the general public.

5. Promoting spiritual awareness throughout the healing process

  • SOL is transparent and honest in advising awareness of spiritual practice to clients. By integrating the scientific and spiritual approaches a deeper knowledge and reception of healing can be achieved.
  • Utilising the deep wisdom of indigenous and shamanic cultures and contextualising how this can be integrated into daily life for the best effects on mental health and well-being.

6. SOL harm reduction stance

  • SOL acknowledges that psychedelics are currently illegal in Australia. SOL advocates for decriminalisation and provides nuanced harm reduction services. SOL does not endorse or encourage illegal use of psychedelics.
  • SOL acknowledges freedom of consciousness and the many ways people may choose to take psychedelics (clinical, ceremonial, solo and guided processes).
Please be aware of the legal context that impacts your personal situation and the potential benefits and risks to self and others.
  • SOL acknowledges that many of these medicines have been woven into indigenous communities for thousands of years.
  • SOL has so much to learn about ayni/reciprocity, sustainability and shamanistic models of health care. Due to the psychedelic renaissance we are seeing both a rapid growth of scientific trials and changes in policies and laws around the world.
  • SOL consults across this global community and information provided in SOL programs does need to be considered alongside your current legal context.
